Action for Healthy Kids - the Ohio Team

Ohio Action for Healthy Kids addresses childhood undernourishment and obesity prevention to help kids learn to eat healthy and be active every day.   Schools can positively impact our children’s nutrition and physical activity by providing opportunities to promote healthy eating and active living.

Ohio k-12 Model Curriculum

The Ohio K-12 Model Curriculum was developed by a working group of members of the Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control administered through the Ohio Department of Education.

The Zone Playground Model

The Zone Playground Model was developed by Lois Carnes as a way to encourage all children to participate in games and activities while on the playground. Each zone presents a game or activity designed to engage the interest of a variety of students. Schools that have implemented this program have seen an increase in active participation as well as a decrease in behavior issues and injuries. Send an email to to request more information.
